An important goal of the Oracle Gatherings is to celebrate life. This includes respecting our environment and using resources in a effective and efficient way. We are requesting that participants join us in this goal by keeping the following ideas in mind:

• USE ALTERNATIVE VEHICLES (Bikes, Electric Powered, Biodiesel Powered, Ethanol Powered, Greyhound Bus, Hybrid)
• CARPOOL TO AND FROM THE EVENT (3 or more people per vehicle is a worthy goal)
• SHOP FOR LOCAL AND ORGANIC PRODUCTS (Check your local Co-op)
• BRING YOUR OWN DRINK CONTAINERS, PLATES, BOWLS, EATING UTENSILS

Offset Your Trip
We encourage carpooling as much as possible, but even with that, we are still creating carbon emissions with our travel. To create a balance, we encourage travelers to offset their carbon emissions through an offset provider. We've looked at a some providers and are recommending a couple here:

www.nativeenergy.com: Native Energy helps fund new renewable energy projects through offsets and also provides a travel calculator for a one-time offset purchase - perfect for your journey to Orcas!

www.carboncounter.org: Carbon Counter is a website tool developed by the Climate Trust for carbon calculation and offset purchases. You can offset your annual carbon emissions from your house, car, and airplane trips using their calculator and purchasing tools. The Climate Trust non-profit helps fund a variety of projects including local projects in Washington such as preserving a native northwest forest with help from the Lummi Indian Tribe.
The Climate Trust website is also a great reference for learning more about carbon emissions and offsetting.

If you purchase offsets for your travel, please let us know by posting some details in our community forum, delphi. You do need to become a member if you aren't already. This will help us keep track of our impact.
